ABOUT THE AUTHOR and OUR PRIMARY PRESENTERS
Gail North-Tasto, B.S., M.A., has had such varied careers as being a Flight Attendant and Purser for an international airline and an entrepreneur/partner in a multi-million dollar commercial real estate business. She has international, national, and Tri-State modeling credits, doing TV and radio commercials, runway shows, photography, etc. She ran a successful modeling agency in Cincinnati, OH. She has taught modeling and self-improvement courses for many years, bringing her into contact with thousands of "average American" teenagers, Teen Boards, and inner-city youth. She now continues with her own ethically-based programs, the Identity Discovery (I.D.) Programs, which offer a holistic approach to life, including body care, character building, and the inner beauty of the spiritual connection to God. She is the mother of two beautiful daughters.
Her education is as diversified as her life, including attending the University of Mexico in Mexico City. She has a B.S. in Communications/Psychology, and an M.A. in Business. Much of the information contained in this book was taken from the two theses required for her degrees. Being a life-long learner, she continues her education by attending seminars in many parts of the country which offer courses in various healing modalities, psychology, self-esteem, spirituality, Centering Prayer, and others, as a lifetime avocation. Some of this is also shared in her book and Life Coaching.
Currently, she is the President of the Teen Esteem Institute, Inc., which offers Identity Discovery (I.D.) Programs, as mentioned above. This Program has been specifically designed for both boys and girls, whether addressing and overcoming problems of inferiority, or a lack of self-esteem and self-confidence, as well as grooming, fashion (including modest dressing), making friends, dating, spirituality, etc. (Please see our section on I.D. Programs.)
Ms. North continues as a Life Coach for teens and adults in a one-on-one setting, and is also listed with a talent agency as a model for industrial films, fashion shows, etc. (Please see our section under "Life Coach" if you are interested in a consultation.)
She is a very active member of her church, and believes that spirituality (a personal relationship with God) is the underlying source of replacing the "not good enough" feelings that many teens have. It is with this personal relationship that a belief in one's unique individuality, self-worth, self-esteem, and worthiness will follow.
She may be reached by email at DiscovTeenEsteem@aol.com or at the Teen Esteem Institute, Inc., at 513-313-5907.
